Wow! This post isn't going to have any house photos. I have not had the time to do much of anything that is leisurely. I miss my photography so much. Just being behind the camera and capturing beauty. There is so much beauty to capture at the house right now too!
We are soooo close! Too close! I can't sleep over how close. Like less than 2 weeks close. I have a toilet that flushes close.
I have been packing the old house, mostly in my head thinking what will go where, but have made progress. We have entirely too much junk to get rid of!
But, we have so much fun new stuff too. I've made friends with the UPS guy. He brought me the rug I searched months and months for today!
It has the sea salty blue I love, the green I'm ever so drawn to, gray, and brown. It's perfect. Not too trendy, and almost has a tiny hint of southwest to it, we do live in the desert after all. I can't wait to see it down. I am quite weird when it comes to new things. I like to keep them new as long as possible. I haven't opened the boxes that have the bar stools I ordered, or the kids bedding, or even the pots and pans my mother in law got me for Christmas. Does anyone else do this?
We have light fixtures, fireplace tile, the master shower tiled, the plumbing fixtures were delivered, and the exterior shake is waiting to get it's final paint touch ups. We got the granite countertops installed yesterday and today. Gosh. It's all just perfect. It's perfectly us.
What happens when two best friends, her a woman that came with two little girls, has a passion for Design and photography, and him a guy that is a handsome craftsman and jack of all trades, get married, have a little boy and share a love of DIY? You'll find out. This blog chronicles the building of our dream home from the beginning.

From Grey to Dried Thyme
This post is full of photos! Ready to scroll?
When we started designing our home we knew we wanted siding mixed with Stucco, hardy board cedar shakes and a little color variation on the exterior to add depth. We decided to finish the two sides and rear of the house in Stucco. It is the best option for homes in Southern Utah. We broke up the front a bit that is why it is unfinished. I can't wait to see the finished look.
Parker works so hard to build this house too. Seriously. The kid has to do everything just like his Dad and Papa. He has helped with every step and knows his way around the site and how to work the tools.
Ooohhh.. See the exterior color sneak peek?
The view of the dining, pantry, and kitchen.
Kitchen, hall, and Powder bath
Powder bath, stairs, entryway
The coffered ceiling adds so much to the home!
Where the clawfoot tub and I will live.
bonus room, guest room and bath, photo studio
The laundry, and kids room hallway
Parker's room
West side of the home
The septic tank.. Gross I know but it was cool to see it delivered!
That's my plumber.
The front porch is going to be nice!
Here are the walls with Texture. We went with a very smooth finish on the walls and ceiling.
I can't wait to see paint!

That moving figure that doesn't stop moving is Moose (Amaia)
I cried when I stood back and saw how beautiful it is and how perfectly it is coming together. Dustin worried about the color. He said, "It is different than all of the other houses that's for sure." I told him that it's perfectly us. This is our dream home and it is going to reflect our family's culture. We already have created some special memories here and we can't wait to relax on the back patio with cold beer, good food, and our amazing family and friends!

Sneak peek of the floors!
A sneak peek of the floors. We used an acid stain in Walnut and a wet look sealer. This is with just one coat of the sealer.

Numb fingers and clawfeet.
So this is what it feels like to be able to sit back a bit and watch. The stucco guys have everything ready for the gray coat. The insulators are at the house as we speak.
Yesterday I finished covering and taping off our newly stained and sealed concrete floors. My fingers are so raw and numb from tearing duct tape and pressing it onto every corner along every wall.
I feel like we finally have completed all the hard work. Trust me I know we aren't done, but the big stuff is done. I am so excited to see it all come together. I can't wait for paint and cabinets!
I chose Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray for the main color throughout the house. Even though it says it's a "cool neutral" I think it's more of a warm gray.
The color that is two shades darker is what the exterior of my clawfoot bath tub is painted! I can't wait to get it installed! My obsession of clawfoot tub's and love of all things vintage began in my mother's childhood home. (below)
The tub used to scare me. I imagined it crawling away with me and my cousin's Tiffany, Cassity, and Candice inside! I remember being so small and the tub feeling so big! I have dreamt of having a clawfoot since then. I'm so lucky to have a husband that knew how special it was for me to have one.
The tub is tucked away at my mother in law's house just waiting. Oh how I wish I was soaking my sore numb fingers and toes in it now. Soon.

We got the roof tile on last Thursday. Hirschi Roofing is amazing. I went to school with Mike. It's been fun to reconnect with him and have his help in building our home!

All of the doors and windows have gotten wrapped in metal. It's really going to add to the craftsman look. |
I am in love with the windows and doors! Worth the extra expense!
We have sheetrock in the Garage, and ceilings of the porch and patio.
Notice the Cleeeeeean House?! I've been cleaning non stop. We swept and swept, vacuumed, and mopped, swept some more, then hand moped on our hands and knees to get ready for stain.
Here it goes.. It looks really red when you put it down, but it is going to be a walnut color.
We have been babying these floors. We have the whole house stained now and have moped it once. We will have to mop a lot more, then put on a layer of sealant, let it dry, then tape and cover it. We are not having carpet at all downstairs.
That's my hard working handsome husband.
We are getting Insulation Monday and Tuesday and are going to start sheet rock on Wednesday. We have stucco guys starting tomorrow! The end is in sight!
Thank you for following our crazy journey of building our dream home! The love and support from everyone is amazing!
