Five generations?

Dustin is a journeyman plumber by trade. He currently does commercial plumbing but starting with his Dad doing residential. Dustin's Grandpa was a plumber. My Dad was a plumber and from the looks of it, Parker could be a plumber. Today Dustin started plumbing our house.

Built on a solid foundation

We had planned to pour the footings on Friday but the weather changed that. We woke up to snow! We made the best of it though and Dustin and I bent and cut the rebar.

 





On Saturday February 1, 2014 we had the help of our great friends Chris D. and James S. while we poured footings. James and Chris have already logged many hours in the cold. Our Bro in law Brandon helped us dig the footings.

 

The kids and I loaded up and went and watched for a bit.

Stop and smell the sunsets

Last week we had an amazing sunset. I have been too busy and not booking any photography sessions and I've really missed being behind my camera.

Breaking Ground

Here we are on Monday February 3, 2014. Dustin is currently plumbing our new home. The girls are at school, Parker is napping and I just uploaded photos off of my personal SD card that had pics back to Christmas. Things are non stop for us right now. We are building our dream home and I have decided to blog the progress and share with our friends and family.

So to take it back a bit...

After a few years of weighing the options between remodeling or selling and building we decided to list our home that Dustin built in 2004 and the home that we've shared since 2009. We listed in July had one terrible offer and then sold the home to a couple in California who agreed to let us rent the home back while we build and finish a few projects for them. We could not have asked for a better situation. It has made this process so much easier. 

Next came the decision of where to purchase a lot. We made an offer on a 1 acre lot in Desert Gardens Estates and had an acceptance 20 minutes later. We hadn't set foot on it until after we heard it was accepted.  We had began the process of designing our dream home with our Architect and started the permit process in October. That took up until last week to finalize. I learned quickly that patience and persistence were going to be of value.

On Friday January 10th, 2014 we closed on our construction loan. We broke ground on Saturday January 11th, 2014.
